THE HISTORY
Bonnets & Durags began as a podcast in 2017. The creator, via Simone, coined 'Bonnets & Durags: A Pillow Talk Podcast' to be a safe space for millennials of color to have open and intimate conversations. The brand has also evolved into an event series and clothing line since its inception and will continue to expand passed the airwaves.
THE LEGACY
It's important for black and brown folks to feel seen and heard. That's why Bonnets & Durags works to make sure that these folks feel comfortable revealing their most authentic selves with the world. There is so much liberation and vulnerability that comes with being in your bonnet or your durag. Let's continue to embrace those moments and do it big for ourselves and for the culture.
THE FOUNDER
via Simone is a digital marketer and media enthusiast from Upstate NY. By day, Simone works as the Partnerships Marketing Manager for a major media advertising and publishing company. By night, Simone hosts her own podcast show, ‘Bonnets & Durags: A Pillow Talk Podcast’, where she has open and intimate conversations with millennials of color. Simone currently lives in Brooklyn, NY and enjoys traveling, being a “foodie”, podcasting, and binge-watching shows on streaming platforms. She plans to expand her reach, increase her network, and leave an impact within the community through the event experiences she curates on her own as well as with one of the largest organizations for creatives of color, The Creative Collective NYC, and their marquee event, CultureCon.
